***Jethro sighed, looking across the room to the couch where the Doctor sat. The TIme Lord wasn't exactly sitting there; he was huddled against the side of the couch, as though he could somehow hide himself from anyone who might be looking at him.
It had only been a few days since they'd found out that the Doctor's blindness wasn't going to be permanent, but the days seemed to be inching by, as though the clock was stuck and wouldn't go forward quickly enough to suit them.
He felt terrible for the Doctor; it had to be impossibly hard for the Time Lord to be this inactive, this frustrated with his inability to do anything. He had no idea how to help the man he loved; all he could do was be here for the Doctor as much as possible. He owed it to the Doctor; after all, he had promised to be with the Time Lord for the rest of his life. And he meant to keep that promise.
What was he going to do if the Doctor cut him loose, decided that he was too annoyed with Jethro's attempts to help him through this? He wanted to dismiss the thought from his mind as being too ridiculous to even contemplate, but he couldn't. It worried him too much.
If the Doctor made that decision, Jethro would do anything that he could to make the Time Lord change his mind. He loved the Doctor; he couldn't bear to leave the other man. Not now, not in the condition he was in. He wouldn't leave -- not even if he was told to do it.
Jethro didn't mind being the Gallifreyan's eyes, his link to the world. After all, he reasoned with himself, it was temporary. The Doctor was going to be all right; they'd been told that by people who would know. He was going to regain his sight, and everything would be fine.
But this had already changed the man he loved, in imperceptible little ways. Jethro could sense the pent-up frustration roiling inside the other man, even though the Doctor tried to hide it. Jethro didn't blame him for feeling that way, but he was nervous and jumpy around the Time Lord now, trying his best not to say anything that might annoy or upset his lover.
The Doctor had apologized to him immediately when his veneer had cracked and he'd vented his frustration on the younger man. And Jethro had forgiven him -- of course he had. He understood why the other man was irritable. He would be, too, if he was in the Time Lord's position.
He shouldn't be so nervous around the man he loved, he told himself, looking over at the Doctor again and trying to decide what would be the best way to approach him. Why was he even thinking of that? The best way would obviously be to just sit down beside the Doctor and talk to him.
Jethro got up from the chair he was in, moving to the couch and taking a seat. Without even thinking about what he was doing, he reached out to wrap his arms around the Doctor, pulling the other man close against him and closing his eyes.
He was holding the man he loved. Everything was going to be all right. It had to be. The Doctor would recover from this, and they would go back to living their lives as though it hadn't happened.
The Doctor had tensed when Jethro had first sat down, but he must have sensed that it was his young lover moving to sit with him, and he'd relaxed the moment that Jethro had pulled him close. His body felt warm and pliant in the young man's arms, his voice soft and questioning when he spoke. "This is a surprise," he murmured, the words bringing a smile to Jethro's lips.
"I know," he said softly, raising one hand to brush a few errant strands of hair away from the Time Lord's face. "I don't seem to hold you often enough lately, do I? This whole situation has put a bit of a damper on our relationship."
"It doesn't have to," the Doctor said, his voice low and husky. "I'd been thinking that myself, actually -- and thinking that we should do something to remedy that. And here we are, on a planet with a room to ourselves .... and a fireplace ...."
"I've always wanted to make love to you in front of a fireplace on a planet I've never been to before," Jethro told him, a smile curving his lips as he bent his head to whisper into the Doctor's ear. "It would be a good way to take our minds off the situation. I think it's an excellent idea."
"So do I," the Doctor answered, turning his head and meeting Jethro's lips with his own. The young man pulled the Time Lord closer against his body, his hands reaching for the bottom of the t-shirt the Doctor was wearing and pulling it up over his head and off. He'd get his own clothes off in due time -- right now, he was focused on having his lover undressed as quickly as possible.
The Doctor's hands were on his shoulders, those long, elegant fingers digging into his skin. This was the first time they'd been intimate since the Doctor had been blinded -- it had to be a leap of faith for the Time Lord to want to be this close, Jethro thought to himself, given that he couldn't see. It had to be frightening to try to exist in a world of darkness.
"Shhh, love, it's all right," he whispered, keeping one arm around the Doctor's waist as he stood up, then guided the other man to the fake-fur rug in front of the fireplace. He sank to his knees, pulling the Doctor down with him, trying to soothe the Gallifreyan with his voice as well as his touch.
The Time Lord lay back slowly, letting out his breath in a soft sigh as Jethro's hands trailed down his chest to rest at his waist. The young man slowly began to work at the button and then the zipper of the Doctor's jeans, smiling to himself as he did so. He didn't often get to see his lover in these kind of relaxed, casual clothes -- and he loved it.
But he loved getting the Doctor out of those clothes even more, he told himself as the Time Lord raised his hips so Jethro could pull those jeans off his long legs. He couldn't keep his eyes from the Doctor's body; he was so beautiful, so .... perfect, at least in Jethro's eyes. He bent down to press gentle lips to the Time Lord's stomach, feeling his lover's muscles tighten in reaction.
Jethro removed his own shirt quickly, unzipping his jeans and shimmying out of them within a few seconds. All he could think of was having the Doctor in his arms, moving his hands over that gorgeous body, being inside the man he loved ....
His breath was coming fast, his heart pounding in his chest. The Doctor reached for him; Jethro took the Time Lord's hands in his own, placing them on his chest and letting the Time Lord touch him in any way he wanted to. His eyes closed, savoring the feeling of his lover's hands on his bare skin. No one had ever touched him quite like the Doctor did.
Thank goodness he had lube with him, Jethro thought, reaching for his jeans and pulling the small tube out of his pocket. He didn't know why he'd decided to keep it with him; there had just been some sort of sixth sense telling him that he might need it. Whatever had prompted him to do that, the young man was grateful that he had, and he was sure that the Doctor would be, too.
He wasted no time in popping the cap off the tube and coating two fingers with the slippery substance, kneeling between the Doctor's parted thighs and leaning over the other man. "I've missed this," he murmured, wondering if the Gallifreyan felt the same.
"Oh yes," the Time Lord murmured, those hands on his shoulders again, tightening slightly, then relaxing. "So have I. We've let ourselves get a bit behind in this department, I think, and that's not good. Let's make up for lost time, shall we?"
"Now, that's something I definitely agree with," Jethro said softly, bending down to press a long, lingering kiss against the Doctor's lips. As he did, he pressed his fingers against the Time Lord's entrance, slipping first one and then the other inside his lover.
The Doctor moaned softly and arched his back, his hips pressing up against Jethro's hand. His hands tightened on his young lover's shoulders; Jethro wondered for a moment if he was feeling any pain. But one look at the Doctor's face told him that wasn't so; the Time Lord's moan had been one of pleasure, not pain.
He needed to be inside the Doctor; he couldn't wait much longer, and from the look on his lover's face, neither could the Time Lord. He slid his fingers out of the Doctor, positioning himself and lifting the other man's legs, encouraging the Gallifreyan to wrap them around his waist.
Jethro closed his eyes as he thrust his hips forward; a gasp was torn from his throat, his body reacting to the tight warmth enveloping him. It was always this way with the Doctor; he felt as though he was falling into flames, a fire that seared him from the inside out. The two of them fit each other as perfectly as two puzzle pieces falling into place.
The Time Lord's legs were wrapped around him, those thin arms around his shoulders. He felt as though the Doctor was enveloping him, in every possible way -- and he certainly didn't mind that. He loved the feeling of being able to lose himself in the man he loved.
He couldn't last long, not with his mind and body already feeling as though they were going to explode. He looked down at the Doctor, sure that his lover was as close as he was. The firelight illuminated the Time Lord's face, the sight bringing a gasp to Jethro's lips.
He could swear that he'd never seen the Doctor look this beautiful. The other man's cheeks were flushed, his lips parted, slightly swollen from Jethro's feverish kisses. He looked ethereal, yet sensual at the same time -- like an angel who had fallen to the earth and somehow managed to land directly in his arms.
That was true. The Doctor was his angel, Jethro thought, closing his eyes as he thrust into the Time Lord one last time. The next moment, he was seeing stars, the rush of pleasure sweeping through his body almost enough to make him fall forward onto his lover.
But he managed not to do that, propping himself up on his elbows and hovering over the Doctor. The Time Lord was panting, gasping, those taut muscles spasming around him. He didn't know exactly at what point the Doctor's climax had happened, but it had obviously been as strong as his own. He was glad of that; he would hate to have left his partner unsatisfied.
Jethro reached down to place one hand on the Doctor's cheek, stroking his fingertips across that soft skin. "I would say that's a good start to making up for lost time," he said softly, smiling as he spoke. "But only a start. We need to keep working on it."
"I agree," the Doctor said, his voice sounding a little weak and thready. Jethro leaned down to kiss him again, feeling those beautiful lips curve into a smile as they met his. "I think this could take a great deal of work. Enough to keep us here for -- oh, a few days, at least."
"That sounds good to me," Jethro murmured, reluctantly disentangling himself from the Time Lord's body. He didn't want to leave the softness of the rug and the warmth of the fireplace, but making love was always much more comfortable in a bed. And he was fairly sure that they would end up making love again before the night was done. Possibly more than once.
The Doctor sat up, reaching a hand towards Jethro. The young man bent to help his lover get to his feet, slipping an arm around his waist; he would have to guide the Doctor to their bedroom, but he didn't mind doing that. It wasn't permanent, he told himself. The Doctor would have his sight back before too long, and things would be back to normal.
And anyway, it was gratifying to be able to do something for the man who always did so much for him. The Doctor didn't ask for much -- only his love, and Jethro was more than willing to give that. It was little enough to give, when he wished that he could do so much more.
"So you've always wanted to make love to me by firelight, hmmm?" the Doctor inquired, raising one eyebrow. "That's one of your fondest fantasies that's just been fulfilled. I should make sure that you cross that one off your list."
Jethro leaned over to whisper in his lover's ear, laughing softly as he did. "There's a long list. It might take us a while to get to all the things I want to do to you. And you know, we may have to practice some of them to make sure they're done right."
"Oh, really?" The Doctor moved closer to him, a smile on his lips as he spoke. "Then I think that we should start working our way down that list. I wonder just how long it's going to take us to achieve everything on it? Knowing you, I'd say that we could be at it for quite a while."
"You'd be right about that," Jethro murmured, leading the Doctor into the bedroom and smiling as he realized that moonlight was flooding the room, illuminating the bed they shared. Hmmm. Two of his fantasies coming true in one night. First firelight, now moonlight. It must be his lucky night.
The last thing he thought before he turned to the Doctor was that this was definitely going to give them a very good start on that list -- and that he just might have to make some other things up to add to it as they went along.
